The story

Set in Scotland, More Than Enough follows Karen Elliott, a woman whose life is quietly unravelling under the weight of addiction, shame, and relentless self-criticism. Years of self-medicating with alcohol have cost Karen everything that once gave her stability – her career, her family's trust, and her sense of who she is.

When a public incident forces the truth into the open, Karen is sent to a rehabilitation clinic against her will, where she must confront the memories and patterns she has spent years trying to escape.

At its heart, More Than Enough is a family drama about addiction and recovery, but it is also a story about identity, motherhood, and the impossible standards women place on themselves. As Karen begins the painful work of facing her past, she must decide whether she is willing to believe she deserves a different future.

Raw, compassionate, and unflinching, More Than Enough explores what it means to break destructive cycles and to accept – perhaps for the first time – that survival alone is not enough.

Readers who enjoyed the moving intensity of Belonging may also connect with Karen's story.

What readers say

"I am dead impressed. This story hits hard especially if you have been in Karen's shoes or near to it. I turned each page sometimes on edge worrying about her. The book is fresh and realistic. I couldn't put it down and I highly recommend."
Binkytop
"I took this book on holiday with me and was hooked, I couldn't put it down. If you want a page turner, this is the one."
Louise
"If you're a fan of domestic noir or books like Blood Orange you'll like this. An enjoyable and easy read."
Mr D Forsters
"A very powerful book of how alcoholism can take a family to the brink of destruction. It is a story of excess, denial, destruction, fear and finally redemption."
Connie
"Here we see the problem of alcoholism laid out bare. It isn't a comfortable book to read and I suspect it was far from comfortable to write. The characters are well drawn, and as such the reader cannot help but care what happens to them."
Ruth
